When my children were younger, I was like the mother eagle always nudging them out of their nest…or in other words, their comfort zone. I now try to do that very same thing with the people I coach. I try to encourage them, even pushing them at times to do things that feel like a risk or challenge them. Because I know that as they try things that were hard or uncomfortable, that soon those things would become easy and even a habit.
I tried something new this past weekend…dirt biking. I’ve been an avid 4-wheeler for years and I’ve ridden on my dad’s motorcycle a few times, so I had confidence this would be a piece of cake…NOT!
My hubby and I went with some friends who are experienced dirt bikers. I told them I had some experience so I didn’t foresee any problems. We started up the first trail (which was actually a pretty tough trail…not for beginners like me) and I was having a hard time just keeping my bike headed straight on the trail.
